EMERGENCY MEETING

Leo hates to take his kids to the park. He's just not the kind of dad who socializes with other parents while his children scream their heads out running around the play area with other tiny humans like them. That's why Blaine is on park duty all the time. But Blaine is in New York, so Leo has to sit on a bench and watch as Harper and Logan climb on the jungle gym over and over.

Except, that he's not even allowed that. He had this whole thing planned: I go there, I take a book with me, I watch them every now and then to make sure they are still there. It was the perfect plan but, of course, other parents – human beings he has nothing in common with – are there to make his life impossible. Following the very mild fall of a little girl from the slide tower, they are rounding up all the parents for an emergency meeting.

Leo is now standing in a circle with people he doesn't know, discussing on whether or not they should write an earnest letter to the mayor and ask him to replace the slide tower with something safer.

“What do you think?” A blonde woman asks him.

Leo clears his throat. "She just scratched her knee,” he shrugs. “She'll do it again a thousand times. Isn't that what kids are supposed to do?”

They look at him in disgust for how bad he's at parenting. He feels they might throw him down the slide tower too. But they just close ranks, cutting him out of the meeting. I might have ruined your scene at the park he writes to Blaine. And then it's time to go home.
